Karessamia Art

I was born in Chicago into a long line of creative blood. In the year 2000, I moved to pursue my degree in sculpture at The Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Never limiting myself to any one medium.

High-caliber contemporary art is evocative. It startles, tells a story,  stirs up an unconscious memory. Great art unsettles the status quo, shifts perspective, stimulates a reaction, all the while enticing the viewer to unravel a metaphor – capturing their own meaning.

My aesthetic vision is simple. My artwork is innovative, playful, edgy and loaded with politically charged metaphoric meaning.  This is what I long for – to make the audience feel as alive viewing my artwork as I do when I am in my studio creating it – seeped in the smell of paint, the buzz of tools and the vibrant colors that surround me.  When I start to create, I see the initial shape and form. Soon, the art piece finds its own voice, guiding my hands, finding its own identity. I never look for perfection, instead I embrace the imperfections.
